can I use fresh pineapple?

in a pear pineapple marmalade? I got 2 fresh pineapple Hubby bought inthe fridge. not used for like almost 2 weeks... If I have to I will use the pineapple I canned ,Late last year ...
Recipe calls for
1 pound 14 oz can pineapple
, 4 lbs pears ,2 large seedless oranges 12 cups sugar ,1 jar (small) mara. cherries.....
No way will I use 12 CUPS sugar and doubt if I use the mars. cherries.
I remeber making like ,the carrot cake jam and used less than half the called for sugar and it was fabulous...

Yes. However, keep in mind neither pineapples nor pears have much pectin, so this is unlikely to set very firm without a good amount of cooking down. Reducing sugar will further impede the set. You may have to accept a softer set to avoid over-cooking.
