That looks so good, I bet it smells and tastes as good as it looks. I have some apples, I guess I will make a pie tomorrow. I am baking a pumpkin dump cake today to take to a pot luck dinner.

What is wrong with this picture?

It didn't come with a scratch n' sniff patch!!!

RE: It's apple season

I made 8 apple pies last Friday to sell at my Farmers Market. Sold all in less than an hour! I have several orders for pies next week and one lady even brought back the aluminum pie tin an hour later and asked if she could get a free refill (jokingly). It must be that time of year when everyone wants apples. I couldn't sell but one or two all summer. (Found they freeze well to serve my family at another time.)

I use a mix of 3 different tart apples and one sweet fall-apart apple like Mutsu or Wolf River for texture and thickening, besides the complex level of flavor they add. I used to use just Granny Smith, but once, having run out of the quantity I needed, threw in some other tart rehydrated dried apples I had no idea what I was going to do with. That goof started a whole chain of mix and match. Sometimes the mistakes turn out to be real winners.

Ruthie_g your crust is lovely.
