I was wondering if anyone had any tips on getting aphids off my harvested broccoli head. I've tried soaking it in warm water with a little vinegar and that got some aphids off but when I look under the florets I still see more aphids inside. I also tried swishing the head around in water many times and I get a few aphids every time but there are still some left after trying this about 10 times. Is there a better way? Am I going to have to cut the broccoli into smaller pieces and blanch it to get them all to come off or is this also not likely to work?

Soak submerged in salt water - 1/2 c salt to 1 gallon of water approx. Soak for 20-30 mins and most will die and float off. Dave

I do the salt water soak for lots of vegetables but only for about 10-15 min, and not quite as accurately as Dave suggests, it's more like a handful of salt to a clean sink full of water. You'd be amazed what you find exiting your produce.... Try a large bunch of parsley some time :)

Thanks for the tip, Dave and Morz. I did not know that.
