how to store brussel sprouts

I certainly never expected to keep my garden going until December 29! But, with all the warm weather on the east coast, and row covers on a couple rows with greens, I was able to pick my last harvest and clean out the last few beds today. It's amazing, considering this is my first fall garden, and I thought it might go till mid-Nov. I had great beginners luck with a brussel sprout plant I purchased this summer. I've been harvesting since November, but with cold temps in the near future, I thought I'd better clean out the beds now and call it a season. I cut the rest of the brussel sprout stalk off, since I've seen them sold this way. I'm wondering what the best way to store the sprouts, until I eat them next week? Should I leave them on the stalk and put them in my basement, with average temps in the low 50's, or cut them off and store them in a bag in the refrigerator?

Thanks,

Michele
