Give up on growing heathers ???????? etc.

| Should we give up on growin heathers.... are there any ultra hardy or vigourous I mean...... really cold hardiness is not always the problem....... any super vigourous ones ??????? |

| I'm not sure but you might give the site heathsandheathers.com a look. There are MANY varieties and some appear to be very hardy. I think Calluna Vulgaris is the most hardy, but I'm not sure. |

| One of the largest heath and heather growers on the east coast is located in Maine, Rockspray Nursery, so they can be grown successfully in some very cold climates. Calluna vulgaris and Erica carnea are generally considered the hardiest and most vigorous of the tribe. Key to successful growing is the location - they need at least a half day sun and slightly acidic, fast draining organic soil. |

| Minor technical correction: Rockspray Nursery is in Truro, Mass (on Cape Cod). But I imagine that's still a pretty chilly zone. |
