| Oooooo...I just found this forum and I am already drooling to start a heather bed. Though I must admit I have been fond of heathers for years. Anyway, one area I would be interested in putting heathers is right next to my septic tank drainage system. How vigorous and how deep do heather roots go? Will they be a problem?

| No, they will not pose any serious competiton - root systems of heaths and heathers are quite shallow. However, these plants will not be happy in your summer humidity, so your success in establishing them may be limited. |
