Did I do a stupid? Heath question.

I'm a total novice at heaths... planted one in the spring in what looked like an ideal spot for it, then discovered I had already planted something else there. By now it was getting woefully crowded.

But I just built a new rock garden! On impulse, I just shoveled up the Heath and popped it into the rock garden. Did I do a stupid? Will it have time now to root there? (I carried a HUGE root ball with it, so it may not even know it was moved.)

Nah, if you didn't disturb the root ball, it should be fine. Just keep it from drying out while it re-establishes.

Actually, I had come to that conclusion -- in the nine days since the transplant, it is flourishing, and has put on so much new growth that now I'm worried about winterkill on the tender new stuff!

Hmmm... I wonder if those aren't the flower buds you are seeing that you are thinking is new growth?

If this is a winter bloomer, that is probably the case.

(Sounds familiar because I made that same mistake in the past!)
