I am looking for Cherokee Shellout Beans, possibly the same as Kahnawake Mohawk and Powhatan Indian Bean. Originally grown in North Carolina by the Cherokee and other neighboring tribes. This is a pole, dry type bean. Also interested in other Cherokee Beans.

Preserving Cherokee crop heritage.

RE: WANTED: Cherokee Shellout Bean

I have some Cherokee black beans. These were carried over the Trail of tears by the Wychie family whose decendents now live in eastern okla where I came from. These are a small black bean, pole variety, for snaps or shelling.Interested?
