Vegetable Gourds

Hello, someone here was sweet enough to send me some seeds of Serpente de Sicilia, before I even had looked into vegetable gourds. Im a bit new to vegetable gardening....

I am pleasantly supprized to hear theyre more easily climbing than zuchinni, and stay more firm when cooked. We had fairly rotten luck with most squash in Cincinnati, but we'll be in Nashville with lots of fresh vermicompost

Im basically just reading up, and planning to put a trellis up in one of my beds for them.... any do's or dont's before I grow these out?

I haven't grown gourds, but since this has been on the Heirloom Forum for over a month now without a reply it seems like a good idea to point out that there is a Gourd Forum. It's surprising that no one here had an answer for you.

Here is a link that might be useful: Gourd Forum

oh thanks! i went over there. I hadnt read the header over there, was thinking it was just birdhouse etc. gourds. Maybe it should be called the Cucurbit and friends forum ;-)
