Asparagus variety

I garden on the west coast not far from San Jose. I'm thinking about putting in an asparagus bed this year. I prefer to use open pollinated varieties, though I do still want disease resistance. I don't strictly require heirlooms, but do require non-hybrid. I wonder if someone on this forum has some experience and could share information with me.

I have also posted my inquiry on the Vegetables forum.

RE: Asparagus variety

I had a bed of Martha Washington that produced well for me for many years. Unfortunately, between woodchucks and my oldest son's mowing it is history.

We have the Martha Washington variety also. Very hardy and prolific
