peonies

I have a really old peone in a very 'hot' garden. We moved in last spring, so I didn't know quite what to expect. It didn't bloom but looked healthy. I have since dug it up and repositioned it. It had a huge woody root system which I removed. This garden might be too dry and hot for it. What do you think? And how can I help it.

I hope you didn't remove too much of the root system and when you replanted it you didn't plant it too deep, the eyes should be just below the surface. If it is growing, looks healthy it just might be the waiting game before you see blooms, they can sulk, ask me how I know :(. The Peony forum could give you more detailed info.
