purple-red fleshed kohlrabi

| Hi - has anyone seen kohlrabi with purple-red flesh and green exterior? I'd love to get some seeds!!!! I know this exists because my CSA share contained one: a pale green, regular looking kohlrabi with deep red-purple flesh. It was gorgeous. Has anyone heard of this? (I emailed my CSA, too) If so, what is the name? Do you think it was some sort of genetic fluke? I posted this message on the Vegtable Gardening forum, too. Thank you. |

| Per momesqny on another thread, "Thanks! I just found out it wasn't kohlrabi, it was a "watermelon radish." Our CSA farmer emailed me. The thing sure looked like kohlrabi! It tasted, looked and felt similar until I got a look at the inside - bright red-pink flesh, really neat. I am going to plant some this year -" |
