| Dianthus caryophyllus An old fashioned, ruby red carnation. Believe they are also called "border carnations". Has the fragrance of cloves. It or similiar varities were used centuries ago to flavor and color wine. The 20 seeds I did receive from Thompson and Morgan all germinated. Thought the seedlings were damping off but from what others tell me, wimpy, thin stems at the soil line are normal. Planted all 20 out three days ago and so far, so good. |
