| I have seed for watermelon that has been in the family a while(so I am told). Someone gave me a different watermelon seed (moon and stars).
If I grow these together will they cross? The seed for the family watermelon is not available that I know of. If they would or could cross how far should I separate them? Thanks |

| Yes they will cross. They are insect pollinated so they must be far enough apart that that a bee will not visit flowers on each cultivar before returning to the hive. That means about a minimum of a quarter mile. If you have to grow both, you will need to bag and hand pollinate the melon you want to save unless you have that kind of space. |
