Confederate Gold seems to be a yellow crookneck summer squash. North Carolina State University has this description of it on their website:

Confederate Gold (16D-14) - Breeder and vendor: Ferry-Morse Seed Co. Characteristics: open pollinated, yellow crookneck type with very uniform, attractive fruits; plants large, vigorous, medium open. Similar: Yellow Summer Crookneck Improved. Adaptation: southeast United States. 1982.
