tomatoes upright

I posted this message on the tomato forum too. I am growing heirloom tomatoes, and plan on growing them vertically, on a so-called make shift tall fence. Can I put the plants on each side of the fence, or is that not enough circulation for the tomatoes? Thanks

RE: tomatoes upright

I think you could plant them on either side of the fence, but you would need to stagger the plants (don't put them directly across from one another. They will still need that 2-3 foot spacing to grow and to allow air flow.
