Spacing on different varieties of heirloom beans

We are branching out into beans this year. I am planting Turkey Craw Beans and Hill Family beans. I know I cannot plant them at the same time close together. Two questions:

1. How far apart do they need to be in order to keep the varieties pure?

OR

2. How many days do I need to wait before planting the second variety?

Thanks!

If I'm not mistaken....beans do not cross pollinate, they are self pollinating.

Why do you not want to plant them at the same time? I think it could be a good idea to plant them at the same time, so one doesn't grow faster and shade out the other.

Beans CAN cross-pollinate, but they rarely ever do. It is something like 1 in 100 or more chances of them cross-pollinating. I read an article about it online.

Also, if they are different species, you will have an even less chance of them cross-pollinating, as most species cannot breed with another and have fertile, viable offspring.
