Got the wrong heirloom tomato and can't identify it

Posted by alexis z8FL (My Page) on

I got some heirloom tomato plants from someone who only sells heirloom vegetable plants. Well, I got a tomato plant named Mr. Stripey. Well, the tomato plant isn't a Mr. Stripey tomato plant. They are two thirds the size of roma tomatoes, shaped like roma tomatoes, and taste very sweet. Can anyone tell me what heirloom tomatoes would match the description of the tomatoes. The tomatoes are red colored. I need some help identifying them.

Extremely difficult even WITH a photo to identify tomato varieties unless it's something specific like Sun Gold.

My recommendation? Save seed and grow it next year. :)

Did you contact the seller and ask what it might be. They'll have a better idea of what they could have mislabeled.

Your description of the size and shape makes it sound like a grape variety.

Consider yourself lucky you didn't get a Mr Stripey. At least you have a chance to get something better for your $$$
