| We live in a 1820's farmhouse. We are working diligently on getting the gardens up to snuff, but i have decided i wanted to make the plants more age appropriate. Our style if definately "cottage or informal". I have searched the internet for books to help me with the specific plants i should use, but have not found any that specific. There are several that mention heritage perennial in passing, but not enough info to grab. Does anyone have any suggestions?? |

| The bible of old time flowers and gardens is "Old Time Gardens" by Alice Morse Earle. It was first published in 1901 and was recently reprinted in paperback. There's a lot of information about American plants and gardens in the era of your house. It has a lot of photos too. |
