Good site to buy heirloom seeds?

Does anyone know a good site to buy heirloom seeds. I'm really interested in getting a few different tomato varieties as well as some other vegetable and and watermelon seeds.

Hi Shadow, If you are close to Inver Grove Heights check out "Gertens". They have a decent supply of heirloom seeds.
They have a web site so you can "google" them. Hope this helps. Glenn

I personally use Seed Savers Exchange and Fedco Seeds. I plan to order from next year, Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds and Sandhill Preservation as well.

Now, if you plan on ordering tomato seeds, you are aware it will be too late for this year, because in the North such as us, the tomatoes need to be started in March.

I've used Nichols Garden Nursery in Albany, Oregon for many years. They've been in business for 60 years.

Good selection on many heirloom seeds.

We've used both Seed Savers and Baker Creek seeds. No complaints from either, and a nice selection.

I really like Sand Hill Preservation....no shipping on orders over $10, and the seeds are more reasonably priced than other places I have seen....

I buy locally from places I find on Local Harvest. Nowhere near the same selection, but I have had very good experiences with the farms in my area. I shoot off emails before I buy to ask about how the varieties have been performing in our area and have gotten really useful feedback, good if you don't have a specific variety in mind.

Be careful about who you buy your seeds from- many companies that you wouldn't expect are supplied by Monsanto or Siminis.
Here's a list of seed companies that are supplied by Seminis, which is owned by Monsanto.

* Totally Tomato
* Vermont Bean Seed Co.
* Burpee
* Cook's Garden
* Johnny's Seeds
* Earl May Seed
* Gardens Alive
* Lindenberg Seeds
* Mountain Valley Seed

* T&T Seeds
* Tomato Growers Supply
* Willhite Seed Co.
* Nichol's
* Rupp
* Osborne
* Snow
* Stokes
* Jungs
* R.H. Shumway
* The Vermont Bean Seed Company
* Seeds for the World
* Seymour's Selected Seeds
