Experiment with heirloom seed from bf 1981 (photo)

I have some family heirloom green bean seed that my grandmother had saved each year. Lots of it! Since I had

some extra room in my garden I figured, what the heck? I'll try planting a few seeds from each year that I had to see what happens. I know there is some seed from before 1981 because the older it gets the darker it gets.

Just curious as to what will happen...how it will grow..if it will grow, etc.

Will keep this thread updated with photos of the growing process.

The beans growing on the left I planted two weeks ago from my last years stock of saved seed.

ps. I originally posted this in the wrong forum, so reposted it here in the right one.

Nice! I'd love to see how they turn out. Its great that you're planting heirloom and saving seed. What kind of beans are the ones on the left, and how did you save the seed?

Thought you'd like to know: I successfully started and harvested cranberry beans one year that were at least 12 years old. This year I've planted some that are only 5. Good luck!
