I've heard these are supposed to be the best tasting strawberry, period. Anybody have any idea where I can locate some? I have spent quite a bit of time googling to no avail.

Thanks.

RE: Suwannee Strawberry

Years ago, I got from the Allen plant company is Salisbury Md. They apparently are out of business. I have not seen Suwanee or several of its contemporaries like Pocohontas for several years. They were great tasting strawberries. The only one that comes close is a real old timer( Fairfax) but it is not a great producer.

Same thing happened to me a couple of years ago, and I ended up ordering a couple of Suwanee runners from a germoplasm repository in Oregon. At this point I have them growing in pots and they are producing a couple berries, but I don't notice that the flavor is any better than a Tristar.
