Yellow Watermelon?

I buy organics from a CSA gardener in Kentucky, some are heirlooms. This week I received a round melon that is about 5 inches in diameter and 6 inches in length. The outside is yellow with a slightly darker yellow stripes running vertically, and the inside looks and tastes like watermelon. It is sooooooo delicious, but I would like to know what to call it.

Ther are a half dozen or so golden rind personal size watermelons. I suspect yours is the Golden Midget, a 1959 introduction from the University of New Hampshire. There are a number of vendors including Baker Creek.

Thanks, Farmerdilla. The photo at the Baker Creek Website looks just like it. Do you know if it's possible to plant the seeds from it and get the same thing?

Quite possible. The only problem would be cross pollination if the grower had a mix of cultivars in the patch.
