7 flowers forming on Mammoth Russian Sunflower

| These sunflowers are only supposed to have one flower per plant, and I was wondering if this is some sort of mutation, if it is caused by stress on the plant, or if it's caused by something else. The other 3 sunflowers growing right next to this plant each have only 1 flower per plant. I counted 7 flowers that were forming on one plant(including the main flower) but there may be more.
Thanks,

| I had the same thing happen last year to one of my mammoth sunflowers. I grew 4 total all in a row and one of them had 16 flowers on it! They were smaller than the main head and the smaller ones went about halfway down the stem. Never did find out what caused it. I would post a picture but I can't figure out how to make that work. |
