Golden MIdget Watermelon

Hello Group,

I am a first time watermelon grower and got excited about this variety due to its cute size and earliness. It is growing in my garden quite vigorously at the moment and some fruit have set in the past few days.

Have any of you tried this variety? Is the flavor any good? ANy suggestions? Can I trellis the plants and support the fruit as they grow?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Mark

RE: Golden MIdget Watermelon

It is a personal size watermelon and would lend itself well to trellising. You will have to judge taste for yourself It is a 1959 introduction from the New Hampshire Ag Experiment sation at Durham. Parents are New Hampshire Midget and Pumpkin Rind. Strickly a novelty in my book.
