Need suggestions with melon variety

Never tried growing melons, but would very much like to. I live in SF bay area so the weather rarely gets too hot and rarely gets too cold. I'm wondering if there are any melons I can grow now or for the fall. I have two 10'X10' raised beds so my space is limited. My soil is very conditioned on top but clayish and wet at the bottom. Of course I would like to take taste, sweetness and yeild into some consideration also. Thanks.

You might try Charentais, I dont know about how much time before they ripen but they are very good. My other favorite are Crenshaw melons. We are in Fresno where it gets a bit warmer.
