Gold Nugget Squash? Ripeness?

| This is my first year to grow Gold Nugget Squash. Anyone familiar with it? What is it supposed to look like when it's ripe? It has turned golden and it is approaching it's Days To Maturity. I can pierce the skin with my fingernail now. Will I be able to when it's ripe? |

| I haven't grown this variety, but I don't think it's much different from other winter squashes. Some have harder skins than others, but the skin should be pretty tough. The stem should be hard. Try to leave the squashes on the plants for a while after their maturity date if the plant still seems healthy, then cut with some stem attached. |

Thanks a bunch, Carolyn... that's pretty much what I had decided to do anyway... tho' I'm sure I'll be tempted to cut one at the mature date and try it for myself. My mouth waters every time I pass those plants just thinking about how yummy they're gonna be. Lisa |
