| first off, as my name suggest, i am a rookie. i have planted a variety pack (brandywine black, pink, red & yellow, cherokee purple, green zebra, white wonder & nebraska wedding)of heirloom tomatoes for the first time this year. of the 6 plants i have growing, 2 are much different than the others. one has a purple flower that i sgrowing from all leaf sets, and the other has yellow flowers with finger-like leaves. does anybody know what type these might be?

| They're definitely not heirloom tomatoes - either they were weed seeds in the packet, the potting mix or they just turned up from the surrounding area. The first is a species of Epilobium (willowherb), the second a species of buttercup/ Ranunculus. I can't tell you which species they are though. To my knowledge, they aren't even edible weeds I'm afraid. |
