Baker Creek gone Corporate?

I heard a rumor that Baker Creek (Rare Seeds)has gone corporate, but kept on Jere Gettle. Then I saw this http://civileats.com/2009/07/22/the-seeds-of-a-new-economy/
post where it says he plans to open another California store and one on the East coast. Anybody heard anything?

RE: Baker Creek gone Corporate?

I'm brand new as a member to this site, but a regular Baker Creek customer. I can't confirm the corporate label, but I did receive an e-mail in early summer announcing the opening of Baker Creek's new Petaluma, Ca. location. (They had free shipping on all orders to celebrate!)

Baker Creek isn't a non-profit organization, it is a seed company... and one that sells only non-hybrid, non-GMO seeds. Jere's success is closely tied to that of the heirloom movement, which is a cause he actively champions. If he has the wherewithal to open new retail outlets nationally, that's good for him - and good for us. There's no sell-out here.
