How did you get it sweet? When I raised it 3 years ago in two different places, it grew very well, but was not sweet for me even though other melons were ok.

Mix 3-1/2 tablespoons of borax(20 mule team)plus 6-1/2 tablespoons of Epsom salt in 5 gallon of water.Spray the plants when the vine starts to run.Spray again when melons are 2 inch in diameter.

Hey I know this is kind of an old thread so I hope to get a possible response?? Do you think this same recipe as above might work on tomatoes??
    Just had to ask...

I don't use any liquid on the tomato plants. I have found that the tomato will be much more susceptible to disease's growing in the wet humid south is a chore. Sure wish I knew a product I could use to stop the diseases. I have tried them all with no success.

I have tried the borax and epsom salt treatment on cantaloupes a few years ago without conclusive results. I am concerned about adding much boron. I originally read the above treatment from a Burpee sheet of 25 years ago.

Oh, that it was so simple and harmless!!
