White Heirloom Eggplant?

Posted by eponacapaill 7 (My Page) on

I am looking for a suggestion for a non bitter white heirloom eggplant. The only white heirloom eggplant I have found is Litte Spooky, I have read that it has a stronger flavor than Black Beauty, but do not know if this means that it is bitter or not.

I do intend to try Rosa Bianca, but would like to know if there are any non bitter white ones to try.

Thank You!

Try cloud nine---very meaty eggplant great for casseroles. Never had a bitter tasting one. Dale

Baker Creek offers several white open pollinated eggplants. Whether or or not you consider them "heirlooms" depends on your definition. Most whites have a pretty mild flavor. Baker Creek cultivars: Caspa; have grown it, ok but not my cup of tea. Easter Egg, have grown it, unimpressed with quality. Lao white, Thai White Ribbed.
Sandhill Preservation has Casper, Chinese White Sword, Thai White Ribbed.

I agree that Cloud Nine is a good white eggplant, but it is a hybrid.

I will check Baker Creek out. Really what I want is an eggplant that I can save the seeds from and open pollinated works just fine. Thanks!
