Like an Egyptian onion, but....

My father remembers a passalong plant from about fifty years ago that he would love to find. It was a variant of the Egyption or walking onion. The difference was that the little onions at the top of the stalk were arranged in a perfect circle, not bunched up as is typical with this kind of onion.

Does anyone know where to find such an onion? He would be just thrilled.

I found something here but didn't read all of the thread: http://forums.gardenweb.com/forums/load/allium/msg0419363532497.html which discusses an onion type described as "walking onion" so that might be helpful.
