| Im looking for a source for different varieties of cushaw, other than the large green striped type. A catalog or a seed exchange would do. |

| Check out Sandhill Preservation, for the owner, Glenn Drowns, is curator of Cucurbits for SSE and lists lots of squash varieties, and varying ones from year to year, and ones that are often hard to find in commerce. In the 2005 catalog/website he lists both a gold striped and a green striped cushaw. It's interesting that Golden Cushaw is a moschata while the other cushaws are mixtas. And he may be offering the Golden this next year, who knows. The SSE Yearbook for members lists about 11 different colored cushaws, including GOlden, not striped, but you might also check the SSE public catalog online to see what they have, I didn't take the time to look. A third place to look is Baker Creek b'c Jere lists lots of squash, and actually quite a few varieties he got from Glenn, above. Note at the Sandhill website that seed orders are not accepted year round and when they are accepted it's only by a written order sent in. Carolyn |
