where to order seeds

Hi Everyone,
I have ordered seeds from totally tomatoes for a couple of years now and every year the seeds I get aren't the plants they are sposed to be. It is so frustrating to plant a mortgage lifter plant and when its harvest time it ends up being a old german tomato. This last year was the worst ever from them. I ordered a ton of seeds and just about every plant I planted was something else all together. What seed companies have you all had good luck with. I plant all heirlooms, please let me know what heirloom companies have worked for you all. Thanks!! |

I like them all and in general, I like to rotate around which ones I buy from each year then I continue to get catalogs to read. Sandhill I always buy the northern special sweet potatoes. Gourmet seed has great European varieties in large pkgs. As Glen said, Tomato Growers is much better at accurate tomato seed than Totally Tomatoes for sure. Of course Victory has a neat list of tomatoes also. I could go on : ) So you see they are all good companies with different strengths or areas of expertise.

| I have had very good luck with, Victory Seeds in Oregon
Heirloom Seeds in Pennsylvania
Baker Creek Seeds in Missouri
Southern Exposure Seed Exchange in Virginia I have had fair luck with
Sand Hill Preservation in Iowa Sand Hill offers many varieties however I ordered a corn variety from them which was severly crossed with multiple other corn varieties. I ordered a yellow dent corn and the seeds I recieved were a yellow dent corn however one fifth of my harvest was a red flint or yellow flower corns. The only other corn I was aware of in the area was more than two miles away. |

| Well darn I just received my seeds from Totally Tomatoes and read the above posts.... so I guess I'll order my Applause and Biltmore Tomatoes from another company since people are having trouble with TT. Atleast I've still have time to reorder. Thanks for the heads up on TT. Wonder what they actually packaged since the packing indicates there're for 2009. Mystery Tomatoes LOL....Tomato Growers Supply here I come!!! Thanks for the recomendations. George |
