What would you do with it in the winter?

winterize it as I do for all my potted plants. I'd transfer it to a pot first.

So.... how do you think it would look in a hanging planter?

I think it would look quite attractive. Here's an example put together for the NW Flower and Garden Show this winter. Like any hanging basket, it will require more frequent waterings and protection in the winter!

Very nice. An interesting idea. The only thing I would consider is not putting it under an eave or porch where it gets no sun. Hellebores will not grow and flower well in total shade.

You could use it as a handing basket while the plant is flowering, then put it back at ground level for the rest of the year. That's a gorgeous picture, Riz.

That does seem like a nice idea. Would it be better to leave it in a pot and insert it into the hanging basket and just winterize same pot? I thought I read that hellebores like to settle in and transplanting postpones bloom? Someone else who has actually tranplanted mature hellebores might chip in here.
