| I've never had hellebores, but would very much like to try them this year. I read somewhere that since the flower heads generally face downward, that it's good to display them at some type of elevated height, so people can look UP at the flowers. I was thinking then that maybe a hanging planter would be good for them. Any reasons why a hanging planter mght NOT be good? I know hanging planters dry out more quickly, but I'm pretty good at attending to them, and I also bought a water reservoir this year to add to the bottom of the hanging planter.

| winterize it as I do for all my potted plants. I'd transfer it to a pot first. So.... how do you think it would look in a hanging planter? Tx. |

| I think it would look quite attractive. Here's an example put together for the NW Flower and Garden Show this winter. Like any hanging basket, it will require more frequent waterings and protection in the winter!

| Very nice. An interesting idea. The only thing I would consider is not putting it under an eave or porch where it gets no sun. Hellebores will not grow and flower well in total shade. |

| Hey Tx, You could use it as a handing basket while the plant is flowering, then put it back at ground level for the rest of the year. That's a gorgeous picture, Riz. Laura |

| That does seem like a nice idea. Would it be better to leave it in a pot and insert it into the hanging basket and just winterize same pot? I thought I read that hellebores like to settle in and transplanting postpones bloom? Someone else who has actually tranplanted mature hellebores might chip in here. |
