Do gophers eat Hellebores?

| There is at least one gopher feasting on my garden, and the prime location for my new Hellebore is above one of its tunnels.
Do gophers eat Hellebores? It's supposed to be a poisonous plant.

| So far as I know, nothing much eats them. I've had deer (our local worst pests) bite off leaves on rate occasions, but they then spit them out. We have no gophers up here but our equivalent critters, groundhogs, don't touch them. Have had one bad insect problem as noted on another thread of mine, but otherwise they are darn-near indestructible. George |
