When ro move seedlings fom the mother plant?

I have seedlings everywhere under my hellebores, including 2 with variegated leaves under an ivory prince. They are still very small, ranging from one set of real leaves to a little over an inch in height. Can I carefully move them to small pots? What soil mixture should I use?

Yes, you can lift and pot them. Put them in shade, keep them moist and protect from sun for a few days if your weather is warm (it's got to be warm someplace :))

They may have more roots than you are expecting, go deeper when lifting them out than you may have guessed. Use a good quality commercial potting medium that will drain well. The potting mixes I have on hand are either ground bark or peat based and I'll mix in a bit of lime to slightly raise the ph but don't run out and buy a bag if you don't have any.
