Decided this year to get some of the species hellebores as all I was growing were the x hybridus. Obtained quart sized pots of H. argutifolius, H. foetidus, and H. niger from a local nursery, which I planted in similar but separate sites. Moist to dry woodland edge with morning sun and medium afternoon shade. Medium humus loamy soil ammended with lime with excellent drainage. Water when needed to maintain soil moisture.

After 6 weeks, the first 2 are growing nicely with stem elongation and many new leaves but the H. niger is just sitting there, apparently totally unchanged from planting time.

Any suggestions, please?
