bareroot hellebores (royal heritage strain)

Hello, all. I have some bareroot Helleborus Royal Heritage Strain coming in the next couple of days. My initial plan was to plant in nicely amended soil in their permanent homes. But upon reflection I am wondering if they might be better off being planted into clay (or even peat, to minimize root disturbance) pots with a good potting soil with compost added, grown out carefully during the season, and then planted in the early fall before their fall root flush.
Thoughts?
