I was at plant growers that was selling out due to health problems as they supply nurserys and I bhought about 13 hellebore at $2 ea and the guy told me they where seedings and give me a picture of a bunch of diffrent colors saying they where mixed colors, they are young but they will all bloom right? at about three to four years old?

I guess unless your really careful they cross and turn out diffrent? and you just wait for them to bloom to see there color?

So if I was wanting a certain color the best thing to do would be to see the blooming plant or buy purestock?

Did I buy a bunch of duds that will not bloom?

The plant in your photo looks to be about 2 or possibly 3 years old to me so while grown from seed, no longer seedlings. And yes, they will bloom - I wouldn't be surprised to see that age plant blooming 6 or 8 months from now in our mild climate. Somehow they are happier in the ground than in pots - if you plant them now, let those roots establish, and give them supplemental water when needed this summer and early fall you could likely have blooms this coming winter on at least some of them.

While if you're looking for a specific color it's best to buy a plant in bloom, you got a great bargain at $2 per container - plant them and enjoy them :)

Thank you!

Very cool.

Yes, morz8 is correct. Planting them on grounds rather than in pots will help them bloom in maybe 3-4 months from now. Maybe the soil nutrients is not enough to make them bloom. I have read that Hellebore starts to bloom early in May.

Thanks.
