hellebores still blooming

I'm confused (pleased, but confused)!

I planted some hellebores (H. Foetidus, or so the label said, 8" pots from the nursery) 1 year ago, they started blooming in March, and are still blooming now, is this normal? If so I'm happy, if not I'm bemused - it has been hot and humid for weeks (I'm in Rockland County, NY). And always thought that Hellebores were cool season plants!

Yes, the deer nibbled on them, but didn't like the taste, the deer seem to be leaving them alone (unlike other plants in the 'deer don't eat this list' (oops deer can't read the list). Groundhogs also try them, but don't keep chewing (unlike my pulmonaria, in the same bed).
