I'm planning a fairly large new shade bed, and have spent the hot Georgia summer preparing the soil, which here means just trucking in load after load of compost, aged manure and topsoil and building on top of our red clay.

I have several lovely little potted hellebores (gifts from fellow gardeners) that I've carefully nurtured all summer, and I was wondering when would be the best time to plant them in the new bed?

Also, what would the ideal amount of light/shade for them to really thrive? Is there a particular exposure they would prefer?

Thanks for any advice, I've always wanted hellebores and I'd like to give these little ones the best chance to really thrive.
