Meconopsis isn't generally difficult to germinate if the temps are not too warm. They self sow here, and germinate easily when sown into pots and placed outdoors in an exposed location over winter (easy enough to mimic with your refrigerator, or sow them in Fall when the temperatures have cooled). But, the seedlings/plants will not survive in your warm Spring and Summer weather in New York...they like bright light to full sun, moisture, and cool summer areas only.
