Sorry I can help you as I am wondering the same thing. This is my first year having Helleborus. I too have one of my five putting on a Lot of growth in the past few weeks.

Hellebores do almost all of their active growth in spring and fall. They are essentially resting during the hot summer months. All of my hellebore plants, both the caulescent (stemmed like H. foetidus) and acaulescent (stemless like the so-called lenten or christmas roses) are starting into new growth in the last month or so and will continue this till deep cold. These shoots are new leaves, and the flower shoots will start up in late winter or early spring.

That's good to know. I still have two to get in the ground and one I'm treating as a container plant on the porch so that I can see it when it blooms. As a container plant, would you advise to put in a larger pot now or wait until Spring. I don't have experience with this plant as yet!
