Helleborus

I obtained a Helleborus (Orientalis?)root with foliage many years ago from family in Holland. This plant flowers every year over Xmas and following. The flower is a dark violet, easily ignored when in flower. The root needs to be split to obtain a new plant. There are no seeds. All the Lenten Roses I have looked at flower well before Xmas or some well after Xmas.
Could any of your experts tell me what I have here.
