I'd assume your hellebore is Helleborus niger, one of the earliest to bloom and the type most often referred to as "Christmas rose". This is perhaps the most cold hardy of any of the hellebores and really should be planted in the ground......hellebores are NOT houseplants :-) However, I do understand that in colder, snowy climates, now is not the right time to be outdoors planting. I'd suggest you keep it in the coolest possible location indoors and with some decent light if currently in bloom. If not in bloom now, I doubt it will generate any buds indoors - the conditions are just not suitable and any buds should already be formed. Water just enough to keep the soil barely moist and avoid water on the foliage - H. niger is prone to botrytis if kept too moist. And no fertilizer.

Plant outside when temperature and soil conditions permit. You will likely need to transition the plant a bit from indoors to out - too severe a change in temperatures and growing conditions could put the plant in shock. A location that provides morning sun and some protection from hot afternoon conditions in summer is best. Well draining soil. Heavy snow cover can delay blooming of the plant in the landscape but in light or no snow (zone 7 and 8), the plant will often bloom on schedule in late December/early January (the Julian calendar, still observed in some eastern Europeans religions, marks Christ's birth on January 6). In colder, snowy climates it is not unusual for the plant to flower in February or March or even as late as April......in these situations, the common name of Christmas rose is a bit of a stretch :-))
