There are quite a few varieties of lavender and some are more cold tolerant than others. It's hard to say for sure but I think I'd wait until the last frost date. Any more information about what type of lavender?

Nothing on the pot or label spike other than the common genus of lavandula. I went ahead and planted it on the sheltered side and gave it a heavy mulch. We'll have to wait and see how it does...
