Usual dosage is: boil 1-2g root in water for 1 minute. Cool. Take 3 cups daily.

Warning:
According to some sources, the plant is toxic when eaten. Do not use if pregnant or lactating. May induce abortion. May increase the effects of barbiturates. Use in combination with sedatives should be avoided. Best used under professional medical supervision.

Sorry I met in the harvesting of the root. I want to grow it myself, and after you dry it out I know there is more to do to prepare it before consumption.

And when that warning says eaten, does that count in water?

The dried root is crushed and (usually) powdered. The harder sections might respond to the use of a hammer! You can pound them the hard way, or you can put them into a food processor or coffee grinder and process until the pieces become powdery.

Eaten=ingested=taken orally into the body. Taken with or without water, you can expect the same results.
