You can always try but I don't expect this to work out very well for you. Do you have a balcony or even steps where you could locate a container outdoors? I'm not saying garlic is a good specimen for container gardening but I suspect that would be more successful than 100% indoors.

Better yet, can you locate a community garden or something similar where you could grow your garlic outdoors in real sun and real earth? That would be so much more satisfying on so many levels.

See the thing is I live in an urban area, so I have been growing fruits and vegetables indoors under lights. This is very satisfying for me (even more so than growing outdoors, which I have done in the past).

I realize that every plant is different and I'm unfamiliar with garlic, especially the likelihood of success when it comes to growing it indoors. I wanted to know more about soil preparation, climate needs, fertilizing, etc. because I am very interested in making this happen indoors.
